Agreed. This is a nice theme. Here's the first sketch. Basically got the inspiration from the rounded edges and a few of the shapes as well. I also decided to "revolutionize basketball shoes" by using considered construction the way the iPhone is going to revolutionize the cell phone market.

Jean - Apple minimalistic designs can pose problems when trying to get inspiration from it, but I would suggest you look at what people came up with for the I-Pod theme and maybe it might help you out.

I'm personally looking for a lot of NON-BASKETBALL entries this month. We've seen the hoop shoes inspired by the iPod. And with the exception of a couple from that month, they looked a bit forced. Now even moreso, I think trying to tie a basketball shoe to the iPhone in some meaningful way has a great chance of coming off hackneyed. So, open your mind and let the iPhone lead you where it wants its shoe to go. I've got a strong idea as to what direction I'd take it, but I'm going to keep that to myself, lest I unduely influence any of your creative flows. All I'm saying is, it would not be a basketball shoe.

glad to see that there's some interest this month!

i agree with rich. you can't get too hung up on trying to make the shoe look like the inspiration. or else it'll just look boring. just take a design cue and run with it. kinda like brett's jordan entry.

but HOT DAMN do i want an iphone.

Hi I am new here I also submitted my iPhone design. For me the factor of iPhone are the touch screen buttons. But I would not use those icons in the shoe design though. But the stuff the iPhone can do my HTC s200 smartphone can do too. Also use screen button, got wifi , internet , just everything.

i'm pretty much done and ready to submit my designs. i have four files i would like to submit.

1. the actual entry
2. the sole, topview/ insole
3. different colorways.
4. concept/ sketches.

now, i know the entry is to be sent as an attachment in the e-mail, but with the rest of the files, should i attach them too or post them on a photobucket account and e-mail the links?

When I sent my freestyle entry I attached the extra images right into the email. I had 3 extra images too, but they only displayed 2, so you might want to choose your 2 favorite out of those extra to attach.

# Each artist can submit only 1 illustration PER month according to that month's theme. The winner of each month will be entered into the final round where 10 monthly winners will compete for 2007 Artist Series Shoe Design of the Year. There will also be an Artist of the Year Award (most consistent performer).
# Each submission via e-mail must be less than 200kb in size, in JPEG format, dimensions of 800X600 and include valid e-mail address, first & last name, and a name & description of their rendering.

800x600, but also says 1 illustration not 1 design. I only sended in one picture the shoe design in visual, i also got a clean design picture without background. Can I send that one in too?
Its still same shoe. But I already had sended the visual.
