| Tony Hardman Moderator Artist Info Reply | 10:48:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2007 Thanks, JT! Actually, it's a pain for me to draw at home right now b/c I don't have a table to sit at, and sketching on the couch on my lap with markers and pencils scattered everywhere sucks...so I do much less than I normally would and it's really rough/quick. I agree though. I think sketching is an exciting and direct look into somebody's mind. I find myself checking out your stuff on SC all the time saying "I gotta step up my game!!" lol Definitely would be a cool theme. Thanks Xavier. When you hear somebody say that, it makes it all worthwhile! -TH |
| johnny szabo (890 Artist Info Reply | 2:46:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2007 Justin I hear you on that one. Sketches are a lot better then renderings and show a lot more of the ideas, what the designer had going on in his head. And that would be a cool theme, Admin? |
| Xavier Rush (194 Reply | 1:49:00 AM Wednesday, October 24, 2007 Tony: your work inspires me to keep drawing, keep up the work man. |
| justin taylor (363 Artist Info Reply | 8:19:00 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2007 TONY: you are absolutely killing it! You never cease to amaze me with the amount of work you put into each project. What really impresses me, is that you make the time for that while holding down a full-time job! WOW! I absolutely love the sketches. I don't know what it is about sketches, but I love looking at how other people sketch. I love seing that difference from person to person. I think it would be cool to just have an "ideation" theme, where each participant submits his/her idea and a page of sketches around that idea. That would kind of get people thinking about the early stages of concept development. |
| Tony Hardman Moderator Artist Info Reply | 12:21:00 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2007 Chris: Thanks. I'm 33 as of a few weeks ago. Reggie: The rough sketches are all done in probably less than a minute. Some of the more detailed/colored ones, maybe 10-15 minutes. I usually will start with a page of notes and jot down some things I want to accomplish or have my shoe be about...maybe some tech ideas. Then the thumbnails are just little bursts of thought...playing with the placement of the pieces and seeing what strikes me. I'm not worried about proportions or anything looking pretty at that point. Then I usually take small ideas from all the different sketches and get a basic form down in illustrator. But that doesn't mean I stop sketching. It just helps me to play with textures and color blocking more quickly, and makes my final rendering easier and quicker since I dont have much time due to the comp deadlines. Thats about it! |
| Christoph Döttelmayer (445 Artist Info Reply | 7:38:00 AM Tuesday, October 23, 2007 Toni, i just want to say that this is another great design "project" of yours, really, liek your Air Jordan design, I love it man and I really like your sketches, there are more interesting to me, cause we see how you approached your final design and all the detail? another thing I wanted to ask you, how old are you? regards C. |
| reggie wilson (41) Reply | 12:24:00 AM Tuesday, October 23, 2007 I like those sketches Tony. How long does it take you to do the hand renderings? How long is the illustrator work. I need to start to benchmark myself. |

| Jonathan Mitchell (25) Artist Info Reply | 4:28:00 PM Monday, October 22, 2007 Tony- I really like number 1 on your new illustrator renderings. Personally, I wasn't really feeling the origional, but with some slight adjustments it is now a shoe that I would wear. Its kinda funny how everybody has their own preferences and by changing the logo plus a few lines here and there makes such a difference. |
