Nike Shox VC III

(Continued ...)
Nike Shox VC III black
Upon first look, the VC III looks like the VC II on steroids. The shoes ballooned to a heft size both in dimension and weight. The more muscular and mechanical approach is edgier but hardly justifies as better. An extra Shox column has been added on the full-length cushioning system to bring a total to 8 - up from 7 found on last year's VC II. But other than other minor enhancements, there's no real significant jump in technology advancement between the two iterations - a huge disappointment for such a promising signature line.

If you don't know by now, our short & long term tests are ideally reviewed by multiple testers with different types of game whenever possible. Having one reviewer on the job is simply too narrow a view on shoes whose fit and function varies drastically among different style of players and different type of feet. We may not always be able to get a guard, forward and center to test each shoe, but that would be the ideal situation as the overall rating reflect a combined average from our testers. In the case of the Shox VC III, the stars aligned and we were able to get a tester available at the point guard, small forward and center type positions reviewing all at the same time frame.

At $150 a pop, the VC III is a high-end shoe that sits atop at the Ultra Luxury & Performance class. Therefore, a great level of expectation was associated with its launch. When the shoes were first purchased, our testers were virtually fist fighting and hair pulling for a chance to review a pair of these. However, a couple of months later, 2 of our 3 testers began to sing an entirely different tune.
