2008 6th Theme - Under Armour

Under Armour Power-H

UA and football are like Kool-aid and sugar: you can’ t have one without the other:) I'm a huge fan of their apparel since I started playing football. As a linebacker myself, I faced the decision whether to wear lowcut’s or midcut’s. The latter gives more protection but takes away some of your agility to make cuts and turns, while the lowcut has the opposite problem. Therefore I decided to go with a lowcut with a strap to have best of both worlds. The strap was the source of my inspiration: the Trojans and their warrior Achilles. As his weak point was his Achilles heel, I wrapped the heel up in a TPU cup the give extra support. I placed a big UA logo on the toe area for visibility. Players are hardly recognizable on tv and their shoes even less since they tape up their ankles over their shoes. So the only visible piece of the shoe is the toe area. That’s also why I chose for 2 contrasting colors in that area to improve the visibility even better. Because of this color aspect, I think the Power-H (Power Heel) would be a great team shoe for college teams, I also did some color ways in the college team colors which you can check under Extra image 2.

The inspiration of the shoes is from the X¡ªMEN,to show the X concept better combinating with its own logo.Varible constructions show the telenology ideas in the future. Element of X is mixed into the mesh on the shoe,which presents the theme.

2008 6th Theme - Under Armour

UA Kogake Basketball

For this design, I began by looking for inspiration - and came across a piece of Samurai armour called Kogake, which is a foot covering. I used this as the starting point for my design, which was heavily inspired by Samurai armour. In terms of function, I wanted it to protect the foot. I looked for common foot problems and injuries, and came across several tendons and ligaments that are succeptible to injury. My design uses elastic ribbons in an attempt to reinforce the function of these internal structures. For instance, elastic ribbons are present across the achilles tendon - so when the achilles strecthes, the ribbons help to relieve some of the stress making it less likely to be torn or injured. The technology used is based on the current Under Armour products. The main upper uses Heatgear fabric, and the cusioning uses Armourlastic with the Armourglide directional cradle.

The next generation of Under Armour training shoes I designed is inspirited from volcanoes and the golden lava streams on the dark soil, just like water flowing out of the hell. The Under Armour H2O Trainer solidifies the brand's commitment to training with the ultimate addition to turf footwear. Inspired by the sleek lines of luxury yachts, the H2O features an expandable external bladder that can be filled with water to add weight to the shoe and further increase an athlete's building of speed and strength during training. The bladder is easily accessed via an integrated funnel molded into the heel for simple filling and draining. Other notable features include a forefoot strap for increased stability, an aggressively lugged outsole for superior traction, and strategic placement of open mesh panels to provide the heat and moisture management that brought Under Armour apparel to the top. UA Iron Trainer

For this month theme, I get my inspiration from superhero "Iron Men". First I really like this movie, but I think he was perfect for Under Armour, because the costume of Tony Stark is like a armor. I try to put my shoe in red and gold but I think that was too flashy for a Under Armour shoe. So I kept it simple with white and grey and some touch of red and gold. There also a black version in the extra image. I make my shoe look strong and solid for extreme training. There a velcro strap around the heel and I design a strong clear plastic piece who go around and under the heel and continue on the side of the shoe for maximum support.

In the late 20th century, women manifest in ambition, assertiveness, and individualism. The roles of female in this modern society will be more important in the future. Every time I took the mass transit, I noticed more women wearing casual shoes or slippers to shopping, school, or even work. It¡¦s all due to the comfort and breath ability characteristics of casual shoes and slippers. But generally the sole of the casual shoes and slippers are too thin and undurable. Their fashion styles are simple and suitable for dressing, but they don¡¦t provide appropriate protection for female feet and ankles. It is difficult and hurtful for women to walk a long distance or go down and up hills with casual shoes and slippers. Therefore I propose designing a new type of walking shoes that combine the fashion style and the technology of running shoes, not only fits the need of walking but also matches female casual suits easily. My inspiration came from the ballet shoes. It looks elegant and comfortable. I integrate elegant elements with the fundamental function of running shoes in this design. I put breathable meshes and anti-bacteria textiles on these walking shoes due to the requirement of breathability and hygiene. Undoubtedly, Under Armour led the trend of form-fitting, moisture-wicking performance apparel. Therefore I think it can take this advantage further to develop this new product line in the future. If I could tell you something that will cause a tremendous effect in the future, girl power is the answer.

2008 6th Theme - Under Armour

The backbone

It is my first time to attend KG's game. However my mother tongue is not English, and I don't know how to describe my shoes well in English. I just want to make the shoes ventilated, comfortable and better to do sport, just like Under Armour's apparel do. In my opinion, Under Armour gives me the feeling of power, rhythm, and the spirit of sport, and the bones, especially the backbone gives me the same feeling with Under Armour's. So I choose the backbone as my design element.
