 May 2007 - Air Jordan XX3 | Air Jordan XX3
6.35 / 10 Michael Jordan has always said "I wanted my shoes to be like a Porsche or a Ferrari, so when I turned, the shoe turned." Just like a Porsche; Michael always had very precise movements. Although no one could predict his next move; It was almost as if Michael saw the next move before it happened.
The whole idea behind the Air Jordan XX3 was applying Porsche's philosophy of design to the foot. While the shoe was not directly inspired by any specific porsche; it was more so inspired by how they treat their surfaces to make the car out perform the rest. Their cars are quick and at times hard to handle but they are engineered well enough to still have precise movements and control any type of course. Michael Jordan did not play the game of basketball with just heel to toe movement; he was all over the place. But at the same time he was meticulous with how he picked apart the opposition; just like a Porsche.
The one word I kept in mind while designing this shoe is Precision. The shoe features a Foamposite chassis that cradles and hugs the foot; to handle that all over movement. It features a leather quarter and two areas of ventilation. The ventilated areas are placed in key heating areas and flexing points of the foot to not only aid in releasing heat but too also allow the foot to bend and flex better. The Midfoot cage that wraps the shoe is composed from rubber and is welded to the shoe. The cage features molded holes for a "speed lacing" system that tightens the whole foot with a thin nylon lace.
Just how the 911 has evolved in shape and size I wanted to evolve the silhouette of the Jordan. Both are timeless design pieces and have evolved around performance. Both are hard to contain; but both are precise enough to out perform the rest.

May 2007 - Air Jordan XX3 | Air Jordan XXIII
8.40 / 10 "To me the 23rd Air Jordan should be a mix of all the distinctive elements on all the Air Jordan's line, while having its own stylistic demarcation.
This mix would be assimilated to sportsmanship, classicism and technical nature, so we could see the design of a "real" Air Jordan. And That is why I would have a precise choice of the elements and materials to make up this shoe as the traditional lacing which is present on every Jordan generation, the "elephant print" (AJ3), the translucent soles (AJ 4,5...11...22), the varnished leather (AJ11...), and other different ingredients that combines to make this the real Air Jordan.

 May 2007 - Air Jordan XX3 | Jordan XXIII
5.24 / 10 The Jordan XXIII Hz0 is inspired by nautical vessels and draws many design
cues from the US navy's nuclear attack submarine, the USS Cheyenne. The
theme also draws inspiration from Michael overcoming his long time fear of
water and how his legacy now has come full-circle with the number 23.
The shoe introduces a brand new system that works both as a shock-absorber
and an ankle inversion protector in one. The new formulated mixture (Hz0)
runs in chambers under the heel and forefoot, and through tubes stretching
up on the sides and around the shoe. Hz0 is a free, dense liquid that
hardens when pressured after only .1 seconds and then just as quickly looses
up upon relief of the pressure.
The Jordan XXIII is the ultimate performance shoe featuring a breathable
upper with various cut-outs to reduce weight and increase flexibilty. It
also features a removable lace-cover. (Each pair comes with 3 sets of
interchangeable lace-covers). A window into the heel-chamber can be seen on
each side and the shoe sits ontop of a gum outsole with excellent traction.

 May 2007 - Air Jordan XX3 | Air Jordan XX3
8.24 / 10 This concept is an embodiment of the story the Jordan Brand has been telling since 1985: High-tech performance basketball product with clean and aggressive styling. The XX3 was developed as the first all-synthetic Jordan shoe. It is a very utilitarian approach to design with seemingly simple aesthetics and all the tech hidden under the hood.
Performance features includes:
For Comfort: a highly breathable biomorphic removable inner sock with interchangeable IPS units for the forefoot and heel providing a fully customized ride.
For stability: a full-length, advanced resin transfer molded foot chassis which acts as a ventilated heel counter, mid foot shank and lateral support structure with hard-wired, seatbelt-like retension modules for unmatched support when you need it the most. This system is reinforced by a stretch fit sleeve that zips up the middle for added compression.
For support: A high polished, semi-translucent, malleable TPU toe cap provides forefoot support with minimal stretch and creasing while upholding the Jordan legacy by putting a fresh new spin on an iconic design language.
I have also included an inspiration/rough sketch page and some additional info on the closure system.

May 2007 - Air Jordan XX3 | Jordan XXIII Nude Concept
4.59 / 10 It's modern, it's simple, it's conceptual, is why I decide this Jordan XX3 to be my best concept yet.
I found this concept accidentally, when my mind was wandering around in the middle of the night.
Actually i made this concept not to be applied in Jordan first, but for fashion shoes, but since KG theme for this month is Jordan XXIII so i tried my best.
It's fashionable, It's easy to modified, and if there's a brand would like to "buy" my concept, they may increase the sales for their apparels as well :-)
The concept is nudity in shoes. But it might not barely as nude like we can see in Playboy magazine. I'm inspired by those sexy bare back dresses wore by actresses when they go to special occasions like Oscar or Grammy.
And with this concept I would like to apply the same feeling we could have when we wear shoes. We can see at a glance for our feet and what socks we wear.
But not to forget the main usage for the shoe itself are comfort and protection.
It's comfort came from full length zoom air, and it's protection came from the main "A" shaped side panel of the shoe. The "A" panel itself should be hard but lightweight.
I haven't found the see through materials itself to be applied in shoes yet, but I think it should look like plastic but felt like fabric, or even specially researched new materials.
Since the main famous colors for Jordan are red, white or black, so i chose either one to be the main single colored for this concept.
For the trims, usually Jordan shoes choose those three as it's combination, but for this concept, it can be as many color follows our choice of socks or even our plain skin color if we choose to wear it without any socks hahaha.
For its neutral color, white/black, any basketball team can combine it whith their own uniform colors like orange, blue, green, etc, or even special designed graphics.
It came from quite a simple thought actually, it's how different persons choose their own signature.
And I try to make it easier to be applied in shoes.
I even make a sales propaganda for it "Life's short, Play nude!" or "The game is fast, play nude!"

 May 2007 - Air Jordan XX3 | Jordan XX3
5.36 / 10 As the saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words" well when it comes to Michael Jordan, a picture may be worth more than that. Introducing the Jordan XX3: a perfect combination of clean design, performance technology, and the story behind the man himself: Michael Jordan.
The XX3 not only has a story behind it, but the story is worn right on the shoe. And the best part is that the story can be changed…
The highlight feature of the XX3 is the newly designed lace shroud system. The leather shrouds for this shoe come in a variety of prints portraying various Jordan moments. This introduces an entirely new element of customization to the buyer and Jordan enthusiast, allowing them to choose their favorite Jordan moment to wear on their shoes. With a simple snap-in clip system, the shrouds are easily removable. New and different shrouds can be purchased from stores and traded amongst friends.
The XX3 is designed to perform just as well on the court as it is off of the court. The wrap-around rubber outsole, inspired by the plate of a track spike (see sketches), provides lateral foot support during quick direction changes and movements. Other key features include a Phylon midsole, injected shank plate, EVA sockliner with high density shock pads, wrap-around TPU heel support, and a full-grain leather and mesh upper. The XX3 comes in a variety of colorways, including a “Black Magic” special edition.

 May 2007 - Air Jordan XX3 | Air Jordan XX3
6.74 / 10 This shoe was inspired by Jordan's passion for motorcycles. The full grain leather wraps the foot like the body of a motorcycle with sculpted panels. The webbing can be seen under the leather piecing just like the engine parts can be seen on a motorcycle. Many superfluous pieces were left off in order to stay simple and consistent with the Jordan image.
